“In April of 2019, I brought this title into my first writing session with Matt Mulhare, now one of my closest friends, co-writers, and fellow Belmont University attendee,” says Christiana. “We came out having written one of my favorite songs to date, in just about 50 minutes. This song is more personal and vulnerable than any of my previous releases, as it was written about my personal love life as opposed to being a narrative. I was stuck between a failed past relationship and an unexpected and exciting new one. I struggled to accept that it was time to fully move on, because of the amount of time, effort, and love that I poured into the person before. I couldn’t give my everything to someone that deserved it, because it felt like a huge piece of my heart was still being held captive by the past. By the end of the write, I was able to put all my feelings into words that helped me find the strength to let go and move on and I hope it does the same for everyone that hears it.”
Christiana has released two previous singles The River and The Devil’s Pact which have garnered a combined 10k+ streams on Spotify. Both songs highlighted her storytelling roots and songwriting, as well as her signature powerhouse vocals. I Want It Back is a change of pace and style, displaying her versatility and range.
