Greenwood By Greg Amici – Greg Amici, the multi-talented musician, writer and actor, is back with his latest single, “Greenwood,”.It’s the follow-up to the previous single, “Jennifer,” from his forthcoming LP Tragicomic.
The musicians featured on “Greenwood” include Amici (lead vocals), James Mastro (guitars, piano, backing vocals) Joe August Gentile (backing vocals), Renee LoBue (backing vocals), and Ray Ketchem (drums, percussion).
Amici says, “Back in the 90’s, in the middle of a savage bout of depression, for some reason I decided to visit Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, last resting place of some famous New Yorkers, most of them mobsters. (https://www.green-wood.com). As I was strolling amongst the tombstones, I stumbled across one that bore a picture of a 30ish guy in a leather jacket. A “Saturday Night Fever” type. I thought it was interesting, and tried to imagine how the fella might have kicked. I also thought the story would be cool if he could feel the presence of his younger (now middle-aged) sister visiting his grave. Hence, “Up there got a kid sister, ‘Hey Tina!/(She’s) so old I could be her son.’”
“Greenwood” was produced by James Mastro (The Bongos, Mott the Hoople, Patti Smith, The Jayhawks) at Magic Door Recording (Montclair, NJ).
