Congratulations on the release of “Salvation Anthem”! Could you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind this song and what it means to you personally?

Thank you very much. ‘Salvation Anthem’ was inspired by salvation stories of other believers that I met at a worship event. After listening to different background stories, it struck me that salvation is for anyone embraces it.

We understand that “Salvation Anthem” was inspired by a particular event where conversion stories were shared. Can you elaborate on how that event influenced the creation of this track?

I had been carrying some guilt around for a while but just didn’t realize it. Guilt and shame is the stumbling block for a lot of Christians, they just wouldn’t embrace the totality of salvation due to the simplicity of it. The ‘Salvation Anthem’ had a particular line “come as you are,” which shows that God understands our whims and caprices.

The Yoruba phrase “Jesu gb’òlè ó gb’ọlẹ” holds significant meaning in the song. Could you share with us why this phrase stood out to you and how it contributed to the overall message of the song?

“Jésù gb’ole o gb’ọlẹ” literally means, ’Jesus accepts robbers and even the powerless’. This means Jesus accepts all, and the phrase alone can serve as the gospel because it is true. Jesus does not care where you’ve been or what you’ve done. His love is non judgemental like people might want you to believe.

In the accompanying music video, you’ve embarked on an outreach program, sharing Bible verses throughout Abeokuta, Nigeria. What motivated you to incorporate this initiative into the project, and what impact do you hope it will have?

The initiative was inspired by the Holy Spirit and I was excited that some souls were won into the Kingdom that day – it definitely was the move of God.

Your name, Yaayanda, carries a beautiful meaning. Could you explain its significance and how it relates to your journey as a gospel artist?

Yaayanda was derived from Iya (Mother) and Ayanda (Chosen) and it resonates with my journey because I am living that name. I’m a Mother to many people who are chosen and although I’m just finding my own footing in the gospel music industry, I mentor people on how to fulfil their purpose. Yes that name does suit me, haha.

Since you began writing songs in 2018, your career has seen remarkable growth. What do you attribute to your success as an Alternative/Traditional Yoruba Gospel Act?

My success now and beyond is attributed to God, He is the giver of all good gifts.

Your partnership with UnboxedPraise has led to the release of several tracks, including “Salvation Anthem.” How has this collaboration impacted your artistic journey, and what do you value most about working with them?.

Oh! I thought you would never ask. Look, every artist should have a supportive system like the Unboxedpraise team. This collaboration has opened my eyes to what could be, and they have set a godly standard for the Yaayanda brand. I am immensely grateful.

Among your repertoire of songs, including “Eri Ayo,” “Orin Ope,” and “Ohun Gbogbo,” how does “Salvation Anthem” stand out to you, and what do you hope listeners take away from it?

The words are simple and the music is subtle to send a serious message in a calm way. We did not want to over complicate a simple message.

As your career progresses, what aspirations do you have for your music and your message as an artist?

The prayer is to not get lost in the noise. My focus is on getting the gospel to the uttermost part of the world through my music. I hope my music will  inspire people to remain original, simple and authentic.

Lastly, what can we expect from Yaayanda in the future? Any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re excited about sharing with your fans?

Expect edifying music, worship hangouts and of course, charity outreaches from Yaayanda. There is definitely more music on the horizon, follow me for more updates.
