Indie singer-songwriter Ryan Toomin is proud to announce the release of his debut album, Disarray, a heartfelt exploration of personal growth, change, and rediscovery. Blending elements of Indie Rock, Power Pop, Soft Rock, and Pop Rock, Disarray, delivers nine tracks that reflect Toomin’s journey from the hustle of Los Angeles to the quiet fields of Kentucky.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Toomin was immersed in music at an early age, watching his parents perform classics by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead. Inspired by these iconic sounds, and later by modern influences such as Radiohead, Elliott Smith, and Wilco, Ryan developed his own unique musical voice. His passion for songwriting grew into a cathartic outlet, allowing him to channel emotions into his craft.
In 2015, Toomin made a bold move to Lexington, KY, where he started a garden design business by day while continuing his musical pursuits by night. It was in the solitude of Kentucky’s rural landscapes that, Disarray, began to take shape.
“Inspiration struck when I found myself living alone in the middle of a cow field with nothing but my iPhone to capture ideas,” says Toomin. “As I transitioned to life in Lexington, I built my own studio piece by piece and used that time to reflect on the disarray that often consumes our lives. These songs are about letting go of past loves, battling loneliness, and eventually finding my way to new love and stability.”
Influenced by artists such as The War On Drugs, Whitney, and of course, Elliott Smith, Disarray, is a rich blend of melodic guitar lines, introspective lyrics, and heartfelt vocals. Toomin played and recorded all of the instruments himself, learning the ropes of production and engineering along the way.
Disarray, captures a wide emotional range, moving from feelings of loss and uncertainty to hope and renewal. Each track offers listeners a glimpse into Toomin’s life and the lessons he’s learned through embracing change.
