Playboi Carti recently unveiled his latest track titled “Backr00ms,” featuring a collaboration with Travis Scott, alongside a captivating music video. Notably, the song credits additional collaborators, SexIsDeath and Indiana420Bitch. The accompanying visual showcases Carti and Scott alternating their rap performances within a garage backdrop near an SUV, interspersed with scenes of Carti showering a dancer with cascades of money.
This collaboration marks the fourth occasion where Carti and Scott have teamed up for a song, following their previous successful tracks such as “Fe!n” from Scott’s Utopia, “Love Hurts” in 2018, and “Green & Purple” back in 2017. Despite Carti’s minimal disclosure about “Backr00ms,” its release indicates a resurgence in Carti’s musical output. Recently, he has teased other unreleased tracks like “2024,” “Different Day,” and “H00dByAir,” and also made an appearance on the single “Popular” alongside the Weeknd and Madonna earlier in 2023. His most recent album, “Whole Lotta Red,” debuted in 2020.
However, it’s important to acknowledge that Carti faced legal issues in February, having been arrested over allegations of assaulting and choking his pregnant girlfriend. Additionally, rumors suggest Carti might feature on the much-anticipated upcoming album “Vultures” by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign. Despite being showcased at listening parties, “Vultures” has encountered multiple delays in its official release.
