Your music is derived from your personal journaling and therapeutic poems. Can you tell us more about your creative process, and how you draw inspiration from your experiences?
My Journaling allows me to write down my thoughts and express my feelings which I then use to write my lyrics and create my music. My journal holds my thoughts and allows me to think through my ideas before turning them into actual lyrics that i use in my music.
How did you come up with the name “Kapture” and what does it represent for you?
The name “Kapture” came from people originally calling me “Polaroid” which refers back to capturing great moments. I love to capture moments with my words in my journal which keeps a record of all experiences in my life.
Your first single, “New Beginnings,” seems to have a very positive message despite the difficult experiences you’ve faced. Can you talk about the inspiration behind the song?
New Beginnings was inspired by my visits to Los Angeles while living in Florida. After falling in love with a new city after spending most of my life in Florida the song represents a new city and finding my new and improved self.
Can you tell us about your background and how it has influenced your music?
Growing up in an abusive household has made me a strong and independent woman. I use my music and my lyrics as a message of hope to other people that may be in a similar situation as to the one grew up in.
You mentioned that “New Beginnings” is the first of five singles set to release this summer. Can you give us a sneak peek into what else we can expect from your upcoming work?
New Beginnings is the first of the 5 singles to be released. Each of the songs are very different when it comes to composition and production. Each of the singles represents me finding myself on my new journey which is an immense reason why they are all so different.
How has your tumultuous past shaped your art, and what role has music played in helping you cope with those challenges?
My tumultuous past has made my art be not only emotional but hopeful in many ways. Your past doesn’t control your future and only shapes you into the person that you are. Music has allowed me to share my journaling with the world in a way that is vulnerable but not invasive.
How do you balance vulnerability and authenticity in your music, while still maintaining a level of privacy and personal boundaries in your personal life?
My music shows the positive side of what can come from your experiences. I have shared a few moments of what has happened during my childhood as I believe I can share a message of hope to others that have been in a similar situation. I choose how much of my journaling and experiences I want to share which is the best part about creating my own music.
Who are some of your biggest musical influences, and how have they inspired your style and sound?
I have many musical influences that I enjoy listening to including Nicki Minaj, Coi Leray, Arinana Grande, and Lil Baby. I would consider my music to be Hip Hip/ Rap and I am constantly being inspired by every song I listen to even if it’s just a small sound I like. Although I don’t compare myself to anyone because I believe I am on my own path and don’t really align with anyone, I am here to spread my idea of existence and what is to come on my new journey and my musical influences help me shape my sound and message.
