Country singer-songwriter Megan Barker had a banner year in 2025. She released three independent singles, “Bad Boy,” “Heartache Heaven,” and “Summer Makes Me Homesick.” Plans for a Christmas single are in the pipeline.
Barker added high-visibility festival shows to her already impressive resume, including Tin Pan South in Nashville (alongside Mike Reid, Dave Berg, and Joel Shewmake), the Key West Songwriters Festival, and the inaugural Destin Songwriters Festival. In addition, she hosted the open mic at the Durango Songwriter Expo in Ventura, CA, and was an official artist performer for the Bass Pro Tour during summer 2025. She also completed successful tours throughout Texas, California, and Florida, which helped to greatly expand her national fanbase. She will close out the year with concerts in Illinois and Memphis.
Her original songs were recorded by other artists as well; she co-wrote “Nicotine,” released as a single by Allie Colleen and included on Colleen’s ‘Sincerely’ EP. And she was Finalist in the prestigious 2025 John Lennon Songwriting Contest with her critically acclaimed song “Cowboys Church,’ which she recorded with Texas stalwart Zane Williams in 2024. Williams adds, “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since I won the John Lennon Songwriting Contest with my song ‘Hurry Home.’ The prize money paid for the first decent recording I ever made, which in turn led to that song being discovered by Sony Records and released as a single for Jason Michael Carroll in 2008. Today I cheer from the sidelines as the competition shines its spotlight on Megan Barker’s “Cowboy’s Church” (featuring guest vocals by this grizzled veteran). Congrats Megan and thank you JLSC for continuing to tip those dominos over for deserving artists and songs.”

Not one to rest on her laurels, Barker shows no signs of letting up in 2026. Her long-awaited debut album is set for release in the new year. She will be joining Doug Stone on his Farewell Tour as direct support, and she plans to launch a members-only area on her official website, featuring exclusive album content, behind-the-scenes videos, and other insider material designed to bring fans closer to the creative process.
“2025 has been a wonderful year full of my favorite things; releasing music and being busy out on the road!” exclaims Barker. “2026 is already promising to bring me some crazy new adventures. I’m grateful to have so many dreams coming true. I can’t wait to see what’s next. Now back to work!”
