In a world where music is often built around strict genres and quick hits, Twaang takes a different path. The project is rooted in ambient soundscapes that can gradually evolve into more upbeat electronic energy, blending electronic textures, minimalist arrangements, and a strong focus on production. Silence and space are just as important as the sounds themselves, creating music that invites listeners to slow down and really experience what they are hearing.
The EP Zone reflects that philosophy perfectly. Rather than feeling like a typical record, it unfolds as a personal, emotional journey. The music moves through different states of mind, from tension and uncertainty to clarity and acceptance, mirroring the kinds of emotional shifts people go through in everyday life.
In this interview, Twaang talks about the inspiration behind Zone, the role of sound design in shaping emotion, and the creative process behind building music that is meant to be felt as much as it is heard

For readers discovering your work for the first time, how would you introduce Twaang as an artist and the philosophy behind your music
The base is from ambient soundscapes which easily can transform to more upbeat things like EDM. Electro vibes with close focus on production where gaps like silence play a part. Often minimal in arrangement
Your EP Zone feels less like a traditional record and more like a personal journey through different emotional states. The project moves from fear to clarity, chaos to acceptance, and intensity to stillness. Can you walk us through the inspiration behind this emotional arc and what you were personally experiencing while creating the project?
Yes. The idea was to not just make music, but also a cinematic journey where the arrangement, instrumental choices and the lyrics merge. It is the progress of emotions that can be seen in grief. tough life situations or emotional rush for any reason or just a feeling of the day. Can be joy as well. This something that all of us will go trough and most often you maybe don’t reflect on the process-The tracks speak to anyone and is not necessarily about myself.it is a chaotic world. I have been around for a while and reflects on this thing like.to be present right now and not let the brain be somewhere else. It is easier said than done, and the music is for the listener to stop for a while and go through yourself. Like a internal journey
Sound design seems to play a major role in how your music communicates emotion. Rather than relying purely on lyrics, you use textures, ambience, and rhythm to tell a story. How do you approach building a sonic environment that listeners can actually feel and inhabit?
The first thing is the overall mood and combination of minor or major key. Mixing must have depth to create the mood, and electronic sounds do that together with the voice of the vocalist that sets the mood with the music together with organic instruments like guitar. Standup bass, and the lyrics tell the story. Nothing unique but we do it well since the music hits you, you need to listen. Ambient is sometime referred as elevator music, then it is just background. This is the opposite, because it is not just another tune. It is a bit different to commercial music and not
Your music often blurs genre boundaries, weaving together electronic, alternative, ambient, and experimental elements. Do you consciously set out to break genre rules, or does the blending happen naturally as part of your creative process?
I do not follow genre rules and that is the key regarding creating the mood and experience i’m after. But it is very important that it fits and don’t end up in some kind of noise or sounds like 3 songs played at the same time. It is my music and I do it in this way.
The title Zone suggests a mental or emotional space that listeners can step into. What does “the zone” represent for you personally, and how do you hope listeners interpret or experience that space when they engage with the EP?
Zone or The Zone is your personal mindset and for me to reflect on behavior etc. and interaction with others help to avoid impulse actions but also have the guts to use them depending on the situation. Can be anything from financial things to decide to smash the ball in a tennis match. A combo maybe works best. I hope the listeners leave the EP with a sense of comfort, confidence and self a steam to go on with their day
Many listeners describe your music as both calming and energizing at the same time. How do you strike that balance between serenity and intensity when composing and producing your tracks?
It is the balance between the instrumentals, the voice and phrasing of the vocalist and arrangements, which often is progressive but minimal, Again the sound of silence plays a part, There is a lot of air and depth in the productions which gives the listener some space to reflect on what hit them.
You’ve received international recognition, including winning the Billboard Songwriting Contest and being nominated for a Hollywood Music in Media Award. How have those milestones influenced your confidence, direction, or expectations as an artist?
It is a confirmation that the industry sees something in it professionally, this was early in my process and I have been out of music for over 15 years and focused on the market side of it ,During this time i let it mature and leave the chase of being recognized or famous for that sake, By that I can focus on production in a more relaxed way. Nowadays I do not care about awards even if it is fun to get and for your ego. And most importantly what so called experts feel about my music. I wanted to complete my catalogue during this year and the is the plan together with coming releases
Your work combines organic textures with modern electronic production techniques. Could you share a bit about your creative process in the studio? For example, do you start with melodies, sound design experiments, or emotional concepts before building the track?
We always start with lyrics and what we want to say with them, from that we decide what kind of music it fits without leaving our platform, is could be extremely minima or chaotic. From that the singer creates a melody that we work from by building the instrumentals, It usually starts with a string instrument. Synths and drones, violins or whatever adds to cinematic feel, It also depends on if we fex wants a medieval feel or American song book feel, The mood is the base .And we mix instruments that are not very common to use together. The end mix is the key where we add sounds to create the feel of the track
Because your music feels cinematic, many listeners can easily imagine it accompanying film or visual storytelling. Do you see your music expanding further into film, TV, or multimedia collaborations in the future?
Yes, I have some sync licensing contacts so I hope so, it is a complicated process and time consuming.
Looking ahead, how do you see the Twaang project evolving? Are there new sonic territories, collaborations, or themes you’re excited to explore after Zone, and what do you hope listeners ultimately take away from your journey through sound?
There is a clear plan to exploit soundscapes, I recently released a more commercial EDM Ep, still in the same signum. An EP with a more jazzy, American song book kind of sounds is out in April. Named Vibe Subscription And for the summer this a relaxed feel good EP named Cosmic Flux and I’, working on a New Age very experimental EP that will have the name Lux ex Umbra (“Light from the shadow”)
