After stepping away from the spotlight for two years, Lil Baby is back in full force. With his album WHAM (Who Hard As Me) already out and another project, Dominique, on the horizon, the Atlanta rap star shows no signs of slowing down. Now, fans have even more to look forward to as Lil Baby has hinted at a potential joint project with Future and possibly Young Thug.
In a recent episode of Spotify’s Day In The Life, Lil Baby shared that he and Future had been working on a collaborative tape, an idea originally proposed by Young Thug during his incarceration. Now that Thug is home, he’s eager to join the project.
“Me and Future was working on a joint tape,” Lil Baby revealed while getting his hair retwisted. “Now, Slime came home… you know he ain’t goin’ for that. He like, ‘Sh*t.’ It’s actually Thug’s idea. When he was in jail, he was like, ‘Call Pluto, I want y’all to do a tape together.’”
Fans have already had a taste of what this collaboration could bring with the track Dum, Dumb & Dumber from WHAM, which features all three artists. However, this isn’t the first time the trio has been linked to a potential joint project. Years ago, they were reportedly working on Super Slimey 2, a follow-up to Future and Thug’s 2017 mixtape, alongside YSL’s Gunna. Those plans were put on hold when Thug and Gunna were hit with racketeering charges in 2021.
Although Gunna has since pleaded guilty and secured an early release, his relationships with many Atlanta artists, including Lil Baby, appear to have soured. Meanwhile, Thug, who pleaded “no contest” to racketeering and “guilty” to firearm possession, seems to be back on good terms with his peers and ready to get back to work.
Interestingly, producer Southside recently teased that Super Slimey 2 might still be in the works. Whether this upcoming project is the same or an entirely new collaboration remains uncertain, but the excitement is undeniable.
With their undeniable chemistry and track record of hits, any joint effort from Lil Baby, Future, and Young Thug is sure to make waves in the rap world. Fans will be eagerly waiting to see what’s next for this powerhouse trio.
