UK-based R&B/ Soul singer-songwriter B.loxx has released her new single ‘Badman’. The release follows the rising singer-songwriter’s grand splash last year with her debut EP ‘Finally’ which saw the support of BBC 1XTRA at the shows with Kenny Allstar and DJ Target. Delving deeper into her personal songwriting, B.loxx returns teaming up with prolific MOBO Award-nominated rapper Kojo Funds on ‘Badman’, a soulful song with nostalgic textures and an Afrobeat flair. The single is at heart a conversation to a man falling in love for the first time and coming to terms with it, with the women encouraging him to embrace his feelings. The song was produced by Naha Rashid, mixed & mastered by Christian B and written by B.loxx.
B.Loxx embraced her journey as a singer-songwriter at the age of 11, to create heartfelt, emotionally-driven ballads that complement her introspective songwriting style. Creating an upbeat sound playing with multiple genres such as R&B, Pop and Soul to create meaningful songs that drive audiences to feel good. Alongside Kojo Funds, B.loxx takes her heartfelt narratives in a new direction, marrying up sweet vocal ability with an afroswing beat creating a 90s feel of rhythmic, soulful music.
Through this release, B.loxx aims to draw audiences into a world of experiencing love and not shying away from it. With ‘Badman’, B.Loxx looks towards breaking down the walls men can build up and unmask the front they create in order to protect themselves from getting hurt in the game of love. The track also makes reference to “Megan Good ” the actress known for her work in the 90s sitcom ‘Cousin Skeeter’ and the inspiration drawn from her character’s role as a leading “girl next door” and the challenges of young love. B.Loxx states:
“This song will be appreciated by the 80’s/90’s babies, those who watched the black films and remember the ‘poster girls’ of that era. The leading ladies at the time had natural beauty.”
Drawing inspiration from various artists across genres such as Temz, Wizkid, Frank Ocean and Yebba, B.loxx has the makings of the next big hit in the R&B scene, with her upbeat twist on the genre and powerful lyricism. With plenty of projects in the pipeline, this is definitely an artist to watch. Follow her on her social media platforms for the latest on her music and performances.
