Following her incredible performance at Gaia House during the ongoing Art X Lagos, where she also exhibited her collaborations with 7 leading Nigerian visual artists — each of them creating a work inspired directly by a song on her new EP, Rising — “Casanova” by Abba Makama, “Paper Planes” by Ayanfe Olarinde, “Wishing on a star” by Elizabeth Ekpetorson, “Energy” by Laju Sholola, “Joy” by
Lemi Ghariokwu, “Sweet Adetola” by Uthman Wahaab and “Electric Lady” by Yagazie Emezi; the phenomenal Afrosoul singer and songwriter, Victoria Falana, known simply as “Falana” is set to launch a week-long exhibition of the pieces at Alara Lagos.
The Luxury Concept Store, Alara Lagos will open its doors to the public for the week-long exhibition which will be kicked off on November 9, 2021, with a launch event where Falana alongside co-curator, the Director of Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos, Oyindamola Fakeye, with with the exhibiting artist each doing a short talk about their piece, the inspiration behind it and the idea of collaborating with Falana on this unique project.
Falana Hosts Art Exhibition At Alara Lagos
Speaking on her recent performances and collaboration with the artists on The Rising exhibition, Falana says; “I am both excited and humbled to be collaborating with these amazing visual artists to create this unique experimental experience in the contemporary African Music and Artspace”.
In the coming days, the exhibition will be open to the public from 9-14th Nov at Alara, which will be followed by the delectable alternative artiste touring the concert with the artwork at unique events, making stops in London, Paris and New York.
