Nigerian singer-songwriter Tems made an unforgettable mark on the global stage during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final, delivering a breathtaking performance of her hit single “Love Me JeJe” at halftime, marking the first-ever halftime show in FIFA tournament history.
Held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Saturday, July 13, the final match between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain had already electrified the crowd, with Chelsea leading 3-0. The energy soared higher when Tems, a two-time Grammy Award winner, stepped onto the stage in a sleek black one-shoulder outfit, exuding calm confidence and star power.
Backed by a full band and dancers, she delivered a soulful and dynamic performance of “Love Me JeJe,” a modern reinterpretation of Seyi Sodimu’s 1997 Nigerian classic. Since its release in April 2024, the track has become a global favorite, blending nostalgic R&B warmth with contemporary flair. Her pitch-perfect vocals and commanding presence captivated both the stadium audience and viewers worldwide.
This performance was more than a musical highlight. It was a milestone moment, as Tems became the first African artist to headline a FIFA halftime show, representing a proud step forward for Afrobeats and African music on the world stage.

She was later joined by an international lineup of stars, including Doja Cat performing “Woman,” J Balvin with “Mi Gente,” and Coldplay, who closed the show with “A Sky Full of Stars.” In a powerful finale, the entire ensemble, including Emmanuel Kelly, came together on stage in a unifying embrace that reflected the show’s global message.
Curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay in collaboration with FIFA and Global Citizen, the halftime show was staged on an elevated platform to protect the pitch. It also supported a greater cause, aiming to raise $100 million for global education initiatives.
With her voice, message, and presence, Tems didn’t just perform—she made history.
