Over the years, we’ve covered how musicians earn money from Spotify, including the controversies surrounding the platform. In 2025, it looks like our focus will also shift to how Spotify is ramping up its money-making tools for podcasters—an effort that might offer hints about new opportunities for artists as well. One initiative worth keeping an eye on is the new Spotify Partner Program.
First announced in November, the program is rolling out this week in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. It’s designed to help creators turn their podcasts into sustainable businesses by providing access to multiple revenue streams. A key feature is the focus on video shows, including payouts from a royalties pool for Premium subscribers. Spotify has emphasized that this new pool won’t affect the royalties allocated for music.
Other features include tools for inserting audio ads into podcasts, not only on Spotify’s free tier but also on other platforms. Spotify shared that since announcing the program on November 13, over 65% of eligible shows and networks have already enrolled.
This development marks another step in Spotify’s evolution, reinforcing its commitment to empowering creators while opening up fresh revenue streams.
