Spotify has joined forces with charity Youth Music to launch a fund aimed at preserving grassroots youth spaces across the UK. The initiative will provide support to 15 creative facilities, including those for music and other art forms, which face challenges in staying operational.
Projects benefiting from the fund include a band initiative for disabled young people, a youth-led studio in a remote coastal town, and a music program promoting inclusion for minoritized women and marginalized genders.
This partnership aligns with Spotify’s Creator Equity Fund, established in 2022, which focuses on fostering inclusion and diversity. Youth Music CEO Matt Griffiths emphasized the importance of these spaces, calling them “the heart of local communities,” while Spotify’s Dina Gabriel, global head of diversity, equity, and impact, highlighted the meaningful impact this collaboration aims to achieve in safeguarding opportunities for young creatives.
This effort underscores the role of music and art in empowering and connecting youth, while addressing the pressing need for funding and resources in community creative spaces.
