For Pennsylvania family band Kopper and Kash, Let’s All Go Down to the River is more than a Southern gospel favorite. It’s a family tradition that runs deep. Originally recorded by Johnny Paycheck and later by Alabama, the song holds special meaning for Jeff Pennycoff and his daughters Mia and Ava, who grew up singing it together during Sunday worship in their family’s barn church.
“This song holds a special place in our hearts,” the band shares. “It’s a reminder of faith, family, and the power of music to bring people together, especially through life’s hardest moments.”
Known for their uplifting harmonies and inspiring messages, Kopper and Kash bring a blend of heartfelt country storytelling and gospel soul to every performance. Their previous singles The Best I Can and True Believer reflect the same authenticity that has earned them nominations from the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame and performances at the Bluebird Café in Nashville.
Through their music, the family continues to honor their late son and brother Matthew, turning grief into grace and loss into love. “Music has been our healing,” they say. “We hope our songs remind people that family, faith, and hope still matter.”
