Independent singer-songwriter, Hannah Bethel, has released her highly anticipated single, “Bad News Baby.”
“Bad News Baby” is the lead single from Bethel’s forthcoming EP, ‘Until the Sun Comes Back Around,‘ set to release on March 25, 2022.
Written by Bethel, “Bad News Baby” is a heartbreaking ballad that tells the story of an experience she had with someone she believed to be her catalyst, a person or thing that precipitates an event. “It was a very mystical experience,” Bethel says. “My romantic heart confused this relationship with something it wasn’t meant to be,” she continues. “After a very brief whirlwind, it ended, and I was left wondering what in the hell I had just experienced. It drove me even deeper into my exploration of the mysteries, of consciousness, and of what draws us to one another. It truly was a catalytic experience. Absolutely nothing about my life has been the same since.’
Recorded in Nashville, “Bad News Baby” was produced by Tim Craven (The Brethren/Boys Club for Girls) and mixed by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer, Brandon Bell (Steep Canyon Rangers/Brandi Carlisle/The Highwomen). The track features Bethel on acoustic guitar and standout vocals, backed by an all-star band, including Sadler Vaden on electric guitars (GRAMMY- winning member of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and producer of Morgan Wade’s 2021 Reckless album), Billy Justineau piano and B3 organ (GRAMMY nominated Brothers Osbourne album, ‘Skeletons’/Eric Church), Jabe Beyer on dobro, acoustic and electric guitars (award-winning session guitarist and songwriter for Natalie Hemby/Lucie Silvas/Katie Pruitt), Megan Jane on drums (Erin Enderlin/Molly Tuttle), Peter Sternberg on bass (Brothers Osborne), Tim Craven on percussion and Haley Arnott on harmonies and backing vocals.
Bethel is a rare artist who blurs lines between Americana, country, pop, and rock. Her musical artistry reflects who she is: a fierce, independent, wild, and untamed spirit. Her music captures the essence of her signature sound by blending elements of the many genres and styles that have influenced her writing and creative expression. Being fearless and unafraid to bare her deepest feelings in her songs reflects her lifestyle – from solo backpacking in the deserts of Arizona and the mystical Joshua Tree, to hiking snow-peaked mountains in Alaska – Bethel lives her life to the fullest. She has experienced deep love, great loss and the healing power of personal growth and redemption and translates those life experiences to listeners though her music.
Bethel has partnered with Brooklyn Basement Records for marketing, U.S. PR and DSP promotion for the single and EP. CDA Publicity & Marketing will represent the project internationally.
