Brit Award winner, Grammy nominee and lead singer of iconic 80s pop group, FIVE STAR – Deniece Pearson releases her long-awaited new album ‘Free Queen See’ – her first new record in over a decade.

Demonstrating a richly varied sound, the 15-track self-written & produced album blends pop, reggae and R&B with spiritual insight, soulful harmonies, and genre-defying energy to mark the start of a bold new chapter of her career.

Inspired by the loss of some close friends and family Deniece reached a turning point. Their passing and her grief made her confront a deeper truth that she hadn’t yet fulfilled and it pushed her to start creating. “I went into solitude for eight months,” Deniece reveals. “I shut off my phone, stopped answering emails, and channelled. I connected with God, my angels, and my spiritual guides and all these songs came through. I’m very proud of this body of work.”

Written and produced entirely by Pearson, ‘Free-Queen-See’ is a testament to creative independence and spiritual clarity. The album’s title is a play on the word “frequency” and “free queen” reflects its dual mission: to elevate and to empower. “The message I’m sending is about Manifestation – you’ve got to be ‘like a child’ to get into the kingdom of heaven. When we stay consistently happy and pure and kind then every day will be a happy one.”

From the sun-drenched bounce of opening track “Berry” to the gospel-infused interlink “Trumpets,” each track carries its own vibration. “‘Berry’ is one of my favourites,” she says. “It’s got that Jamaican energy, playful, emotional, and full of heart. I was raised by Jamaican parents, so that spirit is me.” Other standouts include “Deliverance,” a Bob Marley inspired anthem of unity and return: “It’s about all tribes coming back together and returning to Utopia Africa,” she explains. “It has connected me to the movement and actions of Ibrahim Treore for the people of Burkina Faso and the powerful leadership he embodies. This song will take you on a journey every time you listen.” And just in time for Christmas, the festive new single “I Didn’t Know” sparked by a conversation about Jesus delivers one of the album’s catchiest melodies.

Songs like “When Jesus Spoke” and “Like A Child” with its nods to 90s R&B and unmistakable echoes of TLC draw directly from scripture, but with a melodic accessibility that invites all listeners in. “There are so many songs out there with catchy hooks but negative messages,” Pearson says. “I wanted to flip that to create something uplifting and positive, that still gets stuck in the subconscious mind.” The album also channels 90s nostalgia in “We Found Love,” which she describes as a cross between Cherrelle and Alexander O’Neal. Meanwhile, “Shoogah” celebrates manifestation – “What you give in your life, you reap!”

Though Free-Queen-See marks a brand-new chapter, it is rooted in the 40+ year legacy that made Pearson a household name. “It’s got all the branding of Five Star harmonies,” she says. “Back in the day, I used to put those together so it has got that familiar sound running throughout. But this time everything is coming from one source.”

“This album has been created by channelling through the universe’s energies. Music is my life. It’s a gift. I’m channelling these songs to spread a message; It’s about manifestation, goodness, helping each other, and just having a kind heart.”
