Naesia is making waves with her debut EP, Indecisive, a project that reflects her journey as both an artist and a person. A mix of R&B, Hip Hop, Trap, and Neo-Soul, the EP is an honest, layered exploration of emotions, uncertainty, and self-discovery. We had the chance to chat with Naesia about what inspired the EP, her creative process, and the challenges of being a female producer in a male-dominated industry.
When we asked what inspired Indecisive, Naesia explained that the project didn’t come from one specific moment, but rather a collection of life experiences that have shaped her over the years. “Every song is different, just like my moods and the different phases in my life,” she said. The title itself is a reflection of the indecision that often comes with navigating love and life—those moments of uncertainty that we all face. “The EP captures that push and pull of trying to find clarity in the chaos,” she added.
In 2018, Naesia moved from Germany to London to fully immerse herself in a creative community. That move turned out to be a huge turning point in her life. “London has this vibrant, diverse energy that pushes you to grow and evolve constantly,” she shared. Living in the city exposed her to new musical perspectives, allowing her to experiment with different genres and approaches to songwriting. It’s clear that the move to London has played a significant role in shaping her sound and artistic growth.
As a female producer, Naesia has faced challenges, but she’s never let them stop her. In an industry still dominated by men, being a woman who writes, produces, and arranges her own music is no easy feat. “It’s easy to fall into the trap of second-guessing yourself,” she admitted. But she continues to trust her instincts and grow more confident in her abilities. “I’m proud to be part of a growing movement of women who are carving out space in production,” she said, hoping her journey will inspire other women to take control of their creative process.
Naesia’s creative process for Indecisive was a deeply personal one, with the entire project recorded in her home studio. “It took a lot of time and patience, but I wouldn’t have it any other way,” she said. From writing the melodies to producing, arranging, mixing, and even mastering, Naesia embraced the full creative process. Having complete control over the project allowed her to stay true to her vision and experiment without pressure.
Her eclectic mix of musical influences shines through in Indecisive. “Genres are not meant to limit creativity,” she explained. For Naesia, drawing from R&B for emotional depth, Trap for rhythm, and Neo-Soul for groove is all about creating something that feels authentic to her. She doesn’t try to fit herself into one specific genre; instead, she lets the song lead the way and finds a balance between these diverse influences.
Naesia’s multicultural background—growing up in Germany and later moving to London—has been instrumental in shaping her music. “Both of these backgrounds made me a more open-minded artist,” she shared. The blend of pop influences from Germany and the diverse, multicultural energy of London has given her a broader perspective, which is reflected in her music. Her experiences have shaped her not only as an artist but also as a person navigating different cultural landscapes.
The release of Indecisive has been an incredibly rewarding experience for Naesia. “It’s amazing to hear that people are taking something meaningful away from the music,” she said, reflecting on the positive feedback from listeners. One of the highlights so far has been hearing her music on the radio, with a track from the EP being featured on the ‘Doing The Most’ segment. It’s clear that Indecisive is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey.
Looking ahead, Naesia has big plans for the future. “I’m definitely planning on releasing more singles this year,” she teased, hinting at a few exciting collaborations. Fans can expect even more music that pushes boundaries and showcases her evolving sound.
Congratulations on your debut EP, ‘Indecisive’! What inspired you to create this project, and how does it reflect your personal journey?
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that! Actually, there wasn’t one specific moment or turn of events that inspired this project to be honest, it was more of an accumulation of multiple experiences, including some I made nearly 10 years ago now. I feel like this EP isn’t straight forward and in fact has many layers to it, which reflects me and my life in a way. Every song is different, just like my moods, my various influences and different phases in my life have been. ‘Indecisive’ shows a variety of glimpses into my brain at different stages in time, I guess that kind of sums it up in the best way possible.
You moved from Germany to London in 2018 to immerse yourself in a creative community. How has that experience influenced your sound and artistic growth?
Moving to London was a huge turning point for me both as an artist and as a person. London has this vibrant, diverse energy that pushes you to grow and evolve constantly. The city’s musical landscape exposed me to so many new sounds and perspectives, which opened me up to experiment with different genres and approaches to songwriting. I also took part in music courses and university programs that really helped me hone my craft. But beyond the formal education, the hustle and creative drive of this city motivated me to push boundaries in my work. London forced me to get out of my comfort zone and embrace change, and that definitely shaped how I approach music now.
Being one of the few female artists who produce their music, what challenges have you faced in the industry, and how do you overcome them?
It’s true, a female artist/producer in a still male-dominated industry is not something you come across every day and I’ve definitely encountered some challenges along the way. It’s easy to fall into the trap of second-guessing, especially when you’re surrounded by so many incredibly talented people. But for me, overcoming this means continuing to trust my instincts, trying not to compare myself too much and becoming more confident in my abilities as I continue to perfect my craft. I’ve also been lucky to have a solid support system and a few strong mentors who’ve really helped me navigate this journey. I’m proud to be part of a growing movement of women who are carving out space in production and I hope to inspire others to do the same.
The theme of indecision runs through the entire EP. What drew you to explore this concept, and how does it resonate with your own experiences in love and life?
I’m naturally an indecisive person, and I think this EP is a very honest reflection of that part of myself. We all experience moments of uncertainty where we’re torn between options or unsure of what the future holds. I wanted to create something that reflects those internal battles and that feeling of being in limbo. Love, especially, can be so complicated, and we can often find ourselves in situations where we don’t know whether to stay or go, or whether it’s even worth it. The EP captures that push and pull of trying to find clarity in the chaos.
Can you walk us through the creative process of writing, producing, arranging, and recording ‘Indecisive’ entirely in your home studio?
I typically start with the melody, as I find it’s the easiest way to establish the vibe of the track. From there, I build the beat and the instrumental around it, trying to match the energy I’m going for. The lyrics usually come last; I like to let the music speak to me first and then figure out what story I want to tell. Being in my home studio gave me the flexibility to experiment without any pressure or time constraints, but it also meant I had to wear all the hats—writing, producing, arranging, mixing, and even mastering. It took a lot of time and patience, and sometimes it got overwhelming, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It gave me complete control over the project and allowed me to stay true to my vision.
With so many musical influences ranging from R&B to Hip Hop, Trap, and Neo-Soul, how do you balance these elements to create your distinctive sound?
For me, genres are not meant to limit creativity, but rather to give you different ways to express yourself. I draw from R&B for emotional depth, Trap and Hip Hop for punch and rhythm, and Neo-Soul for groove and melody. I don’t like to think inside the box so I don’t usually approach a track thinking, “I need to make this 100% Neo-Soul” or “I need to make this old school R&B” Instead, I focus on the feeling of the song and let it naturally take shape based on where my head is at. Sometimes I’ll pull from one genre more than others, but I like to let each song tell me what it needs. That way, I end up with something that feels fresh and true to me, but still taps into these diverse influences in a unique way.
How do you think your multicultural background and experiences across different countries shape your music and artistic perspective?
Growing up in Germany and then moving to London gave me two very different cultural perspectives that definitely influence how I approach music. Growing up in Germany gave me a stronger foundation in pop music, while London’s multicultural energy opened my eyes to all sorts of new sounds and genres. I think both of these backgrounds made me a more open-minded artist, someone who isn’t afraid to blend different influences. It also gives me a different perspective on the industry itself; I’ve had to adapt and learn how to navigate spaces that can be very different from what I knew back home. But I also think having these contrasting experiences has given me a lot of material to work with—I draw from my own personal journey and I’m lucky to have been rich in experiences, and I think that helps me create music that feels complex and layered.
What has been the most rewarding part of releasing your debut project, and how has the response been so far from fans and listeners?
The most rewarding part has definitely been hearing how people connect with the EP. Whether it’s a song that resonates with them emotionally or a track that makes them feel seen in their own experiences of indecision, it’s amazing to hear that people are taking something meaningful away from the music. The feedback has been really positive so far, and it feels good knowing that what I put out into the world is having an impact on others. Getting a song from the project played live and being interviewed on the radio under the ‘Doing The Most’ segment was also a huge milestone that made me feel really happy and appreciative. Overall it’s been amazing but it’s also been a huge learning experience, and I’m excited to keep building on this momentum.
Looking ahead, what can fans expect from you in terms of future projects or collaborations?
I can’t be giving too much away….. buuut I am definitely planning on releasing more singles this year, alongside one or the other exciting collab. Stay tuned!
What advice would you give to aspiring female artists who want to take control of their creative process and produce their music?
I find producing my own songs to be incredibly empowering—it allows me to take full ownership of my sound and vision and I want to show other women that they can do the same. My goal is to encourage them to trust in their own skills, take creative risks, and never settle for anyone else’s version of their art. You have the possibility to make music that feels personal to you on your own and I believe that production is such a valuable skill that’s definitely worth investing in, as it’s something that will generally give you a much deeper understanding of your craft.
