John Myrtle – The Little World of You and Me: John Myrtle Announces New Album The Little World of You and Me – Out 5th September 2025 via Dog Bites Records & Cherry Lime Records

London-based, Birmingham native indie psych-folk riser John Myrtle releases the sophomore album, The Little World of You and Me – 5th September 2025 via Dog Bite Records w/ Physical vinyl release by Cherry Lime Records (Summer Salt, Ruru, The Symposium). The album is a personal, heartfelt exploration of love, heartbreak, and everyday life, recorded across sessions in LA and Myrtle’s own attic studio in Birmingham.

Featuring the standout tracks ‘How Do You Break a Heart?’ produced by Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Lemon Twigs, The Killers, Father John Misty & founding member of Foxygen) and ‘We’re Tearing the Heart Out of Love’ mixed by Max Clarke (Cut Worms), the album balances lush production with intimate, acoustic storytelling. The rest of the record is self-produced by Myrtle, capturing the warm, home-recorded essence of his songwriting.

Speaking about the album Myrtle explains: “The album is a sharing of small musings on my life in the past couple of years. I’m a homebody really, and wanted to have an album that showed this. Love, heartbreak and dogs are the themes here, and I wanted to create a little world, a small painting, of these few elements and how the small things can keep you keeping on.

I recorded How Do You Break a Heart with Jonathan Rado (Weyes Blood, Lemon Twigs, Cut Worms, the Killers) in LA and also other parts of the record with Tyler Karmen (Kasey Johansing). The trail eventually led me back home though, to my attic in Birmingham to record the bulk of the music. Complete with my dog barking throughout the record. Home is where my heart is.

It’s a more complete record than my last in terms of the mood I wanted to create, and as a snapshot into my life at the time I was writing and recording.”

Since emerging in 2019, John Myrtle has steadily built a reputation for emotionally resonant pop with a slightly off-kilter edge. Early demos uploaded to SoundCloud caught the attention of Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music, leading to a live session and the critically acclaimed EP Here’s John Myrtle. His follow-up album, Myrtle Soup (2021), further established his growing fanbase and drew praise from publications including So Young Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, DIY, Brooklyn Vegan, God is in the TV, Far Out, Shindig, Record Collector, and MOOF among others.

Having been main tour support for a whole host of big names including Kate Bollinger, Cut Worms, Summer Salt, The Bug Club, Katy J Pearson, and Dana Gavanski, Myrtle has also toured Europe with Kate Bollinger and is about to head on a US tour with The Symposium. John has recorded with acclaimed producer Jonathan Rado and performed a live session for Marc Riley on BBC 6 Music in 2024, receiving extensive airplay from Riley and Coe on 6. His work has also achieved significant recognition through playlisting on Spotify, featuring in Garden Indie, Listening Post, Fresh Finds, and the now-archived Hometaping playlist, as well as support from KEXP, Rough Trade, and Apple Music.

John Myrtle continues to craft music that is simultaneously intimate and expansive, inviting listeners into a unique world where love, heartbreak, and life’s small joys intertwine.
