Vessna Scheff – One More Time: San Francisco Bay Area-raised, Philadelphia-based singer and songwriter Vessna Scheff has released One More Time, the final single from her upcoming LP Never Mind the Moon. Inspired by the exhilaration of a roller-skating session, the track captures the thrill of free movement and is built around themes of self-love and aspiration. With a bright, bouncy backdrop crafted by her longtime producer Lee Clarke, Scheff brings these themes to life with uplifting lyrics, rich melodies, and an irresistible hook.
“When skating, you never want the night to end. Each time you go around the rink, you learn something about yourself, about others, and about the importance of joy,” Scheff explains. “Going around just ‘one more time’ lets you sink into that joy a little longer, so you can carry it with you.”
The LP Never Mind the Moon—set to release on Friday, October 18th—draws its title from a moment in the Questlove-directed 2021 documentary Summer of Soul. The film recounts the historic 1969 Harlem Culture Festival, where an attendee famously replied to a question about the moon landing, “Never mind the moon, what we need is investment in Harlem.” This sentiment resonated deeply with Scheff as she reflected on the aspirations and dreams that are often associated with the moon.
Beyond music, Vessna Scheff is also a talented visual artist and holds a Master’s degree in Performing Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design.
