There are three main types of songs on Skales’s album Sweet Distractions: songs about a rapper’s comeback, songs about exciting relationship problems, and songs with the modern energy of South Africa’s amapiano. Skales is best known as a crooner, but he started out as a rapper.
On “As Always”, “Katapot”, and the first song, “Hope, Freedom and Love”, he talks about his mother having a stroke, as well as job setbacks, drug use, relationship problems, and money worries.
Before this new song, Skales had released a remix of “Say You Bad” with 1da Banton and the music video for “Player Days,” both from his highly praised fourth solo album.The singer’s love for his wife is shown in the Player Days video, which includes live scenes from their wedding in Lagos on September 25, 2021.
