Nigerian Afro-fusion sensation Kellyyung is releasing his highly anticipated EP, Love Hate Lust, dropping on October 25, 2025. This project is a rhythmic exploration of the tangled emotions that define human connection, love, hate, and lust, woven into a tapestry of Afrobeat rhythms, R&B soul, and trap-infused beats.
Born Morrison Dale in Udu, Delta State, Kellyyung has been crafting music since his childhood, turning playful melodies and cheeky lyrics into a full-fledged career that resonates with authenticity. From his early days of teasing friends with made-up songs to collaborating with Nigerian heavyweight Peruzzi in 2019, Kellyyung’s journey is one of grit, passion, and unrelenting creativity. Despite financial hurdles that halted his university education, his love for music propelled him forward, culminating in this deeply personal EP.
Love Hate Lust is a sonic diary, capturing the push and pull of complicated relationships, friendships, and family ties. Inspired by real-life experiences, love that burned bright then crashed, lust that blurred boundaries, and emotional conflicts that lingered, Kellyyung poured his soul into every track. The EP, nearly a year in the making, showcases his growth as an artist, with sharpened vocals and introspective lyrics that hit hard yet keep the vibe infectious. Recorded across studios in Lagos and Port Harcourt, including late-night sessions and a standout track, Again, born during a rainy balcony freestyle, the project feels as organic as it is polished.
The EP’s Afro-fusion sound blends traditional African percussion with modern 808s, synth pads, and call-and-response vocals, creating a soundscape that’s both dancefloor-ready and deeply reflective. Tracks like Alaye bring gritty street energy with heavy basslines, while Maya drifts into dreamy, atmospheric vibes. A single collaboration with Maxi Kabiesi, known for his hit Chocomilo, adds a dynamic spark, alongside production from heavyweights like Henry Keys, Boucci Beats, Elvis Beatz, and Suka Sounds. Each contributor brings a unique flavor, making Love Hate Lust a rich, textured journey.
At its core, Love Hate Lust is about emotional duality, the messy, beautiful tension between what we want and what we need. Kellyyung hopes listeners will find themselves in the music, whether they’re dancing through heartbreak, reflecting on desire, or vibing to the rhythm. It’s an EP that invites you to feel seen, to move, and to think.
