Global megastar Jackson Wang returns with his first solo single of 2021, “LMLY”, via 88rising, distributed by 12Tone Music LLC.“LMLY” – abbreviated for “Leave Me Loving You” – is a mesmerizing 80s-inspired, synth-pop jam with a soaring vocal performance from Jackson. The new single kicks off Jackson’s musically focused 2021 and hints at what’s to come from his highly-anticipated sophomore album releasing later this year.
To complement the single, Jackson has released the music video to “LMLY” today. The music video – scripted entirely by Jackson and directed in collaboration with Mamesjao – is inspired by the classic Hong Kong Chinese films Jackson grew up watching. “LMLY” tells a beautiful, one-sided love story occurring in Jackson’s mind as he falls in love with a woman who regularly visits the tea restaurant where he works. Longtime fans will notice the deliberate continuity between the music videos for “LMLY” and Jackson’s last single, “Pretty Please”.
“‘LMLY’ is a continuous concept from my single, ‘Pretty Please’, but with a different love story,” said Jackson on “LMLY”. “This one is about me and a girl falling deeply in love, but there’s kind of a plot twist towards the end that viewers might not have seen coming. Visually, everything is in the same zone, same time period of ‘Pretty Please’, but the technique we used to film ‘LMLY’ was interesting and very fresh to us.”
This past September, Jackson teamed up with multi-platinum dance-pop duo Galantis to release the dance anthem “Pretty Please”. The accompanying music video was also directed, written, and edited by Jackson himself. The song and video have garnered 75M streams to date, reached #3 at US Dance Radio, and charted #9 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Sales Chart. Jackson also made history last year with the release of “100 Ways” as the first Chinese solo artist to ever chart the Mediabase’s Top 40 List when it landed at the 24th spot. Today, “100 Ways” boasts more than 200M streams worldwide.
In October 2019, Jackson released his critically acclaimed debut solo album, MIRRORS, via Western and 6th. ‘MIRRORS’, debuted at #32 on the Billboard 200, becoming the highest-charting solo artist debut from China, and collectively reached #1 on Billboard’s Independent Albums Chart, #2 on the Rap Album Sales Chart, #3 on the Digital Albums Chart, #4 on the Top Current Albums Chart and #4 Top Album Sales Chart.
In addition to collaborating with global artists such as Major Lazer, Swae Lee, GoldLink and Gucci Mane, Jackson has amassed a devoted following that exceeds 64 Million fans across social platforms.
