Bacci Pouch – Normal People: Brighton-emerging indie-rockers Bacci Pouch share the scuzzy yet infectious new single, ‘Normal People.
A raw and vibrant soundscape that captures the indie rock flare of The Libertines and the energy of Buzzcocks, ‘Normal People’, bacci pouches third single, continues to showcase their potential. Blending a radiant sense of nostalgia with raw emotion, the track builds a driving soundscape around its intricate bassline.
Buoyant, fuzzy guitar melodies and boxy drums capture a messy and evocative vintage 70s tone under the effortlessly catchy lead vocal melodies to bring both a punk undertone to a sound which is ultimately rooted in indie-pop-come-alt-rock.
‘Normal People’ was recorded at the renowned Forum Recording Studios acclaimed producer Erik Miles (Soft Play, Kate Nash, Heavy Jelly) before being mastered by Robin Schmidt (The 1975, The K’s and The Courteeners). The single has already become a fan-favourite at the band’s live shows, known for its pulsating bass line and reflective lyrics.
Vocalist and guitarist James Neighbour shared insight into the song’s origins: “‘Normal People’ describes the encounter of two people struggling with everyday life, feeling disconnected from society and not ‘normal.’ Through finding common ground, they realise that they need each other to live out a fantasy of normalcy. It’s a statement on feeling alien within the patterns of everyday life, but at its core, it’s about finding that one special person who makes you feel understood.”
The band’s distinctive style, often likened to the likes of Buzzcocks and The Stone Roses, has quickly made them a fixture in the UK indie scene. Building a reputation for their electrifying live performances, Bacci Pouch has headlined shows across Brighton as well as opening for the likes of The Dream Machine, The Skinner Brothers, and Aerial Salad. Gaining traction through notable radio plays including Radio X, BBC Introducing and Platform B, the band are already established as one to watch.
