In the vibrant landscape of South African music, few figures have left as indelible a mark as AKA. With his lyrical prowess, magnetic stage presence, and trailblazing career, AKA has risen to the forefront of the country’s hip-hop scene, capturing the hearts of fans both locally and internationally. In an extraordinary meeting of minds, we were granted the unparalleled privilege of conducting an exclusive interview with the rapper himself, peeling back the layers of his life, artistry, and the intricate narrative that defines his journey.

Our exclusive interview with AKA provided a profound insight into the essence of a rap sensation who has transcended borders and genres. AKA’s music is more than a collection of beats and verses; it’s a reflection of a journey that mirrors the evolution of an artist and the society he represents. With authenticity at his core and innovation driving his every move, AKA’s legacy is firmly etched into the annals of South African and global hip-hop history.

Under the watchful auspices of his towering achievements we embarked on a conversation that promised to transcend the ordinary. From his humble beginnings to his meteoric rise, AKA graciously shared insights that provided an intimate look into the life of a modern musical icon.

Thank you for joining us today, AKA. To kick things off, can you share some insights into your musical journey? What inspired you to pursue a career in rap?

Knowing that I can do it better than most. I have always been into music. And ain’t nothing better than getting paid fr doing something you love.

Tell me about your family background?

I don’t know where to start. I was born in Cape Town and moved to Johannesburg when I was 6. Got 1 younger brother. We are just a happy family.

Your music video Jika, had over 58,000 views on our platform within 48 hours. How do you feel about that?

That is dope. We are growing. Shout out to your platform for showing love. Its love right back..

Have you ever dealt with performance anxiety before?

I have always been confident in my music, and performances – lots of work go into my shows, band rehearsals, hours of putting together a show – lighting, visuals, aesthetics etc.  And the promoters book me at that particular stage knowing that the people will be there for me, and receive my perform well.

How do you interact with and respond to your fans ?

I try to interact when I have time – follow @akaworldwide on Instagram and Twitter to see if you would be the lucky one to get a mention from the Supa Mega.

Tell me about your favourite performance venues?

I have performed at various shows. Top of mind – LA Live in Los Angeles. I did a show in France last year, on the Cannes beach. That was mad dope. In South Africa, we have a venue called Zone 6 – always proper.

On Average, How long does it take you to write a song ?

Really depends on the song, I have gone on from taking only a few days to put together a song, I’m taking production, writing, arrangements and all – in day. Usually it could take a week or 2 to get a song to a level that I think could make a huge hit.

What advice would you have for someone willing to follow in your footsteps?

Do you bruv, study the greats – so you could be the greatest. But… do you bruv.

If you had one message to give to your fans, what would it be?

We are the best to ever do it..
