Following a summer of touring and appearances at festivals including Truck, Y Not Festival, and Tramlines, Indie-Pop quartet The Covasettes return with the shimmering new single ‘The Memory Chaser’ (Oct 13th), taken from the hotly anticipated upcoming EP What’s Lost is Ours To Find.
Produced by Jamie McIntyre (Voodoo Bandits), mixed by John Catlin (Inhaler), and mastered by Andy ‘Hippy’ Baldwin (Sea Girls, Sundara Karma), ‘The Memory Chaser’ opens with a dreamy, reverb soaked guitar chord sequence which ring out to create a spacious soundscape. The warming, infectious vocals soon enter to pick up the pace as driving drums, grounding bass and strummed guitar soon enter, pulling the track forward with a sense of driving purpose.
Growing through its ear-worm chorus’s, the track builds towards an explosive, euphoric climax as the guitar lines and vocals soar, capturing the vibrant energy of the band’s live shows.Holding a whimsical sense of melancholy and ethereal wonder, particularly prevalent in the chorus, The Covasettes display an uncanny ability to craft rich, beautifully constructed guitar led soundscapes adorned with a youthful and catchy indie-pop flare.
Speaking about the meaning behind the track, the band explain: “It’s heartbreaking and painfully honest but that’s how I like my lyrics to be. It’s a story about becoming lost in a relationship and chasing those feelings that have become lost over time and becoming dependent on nostalgia to justify why you’re still together.”
Having sold-out shows across the country, amassed over 7 million Spotify streams, and stolen the show at UK festivals, The Covasettes have seen a meteoric rise since their debut. Opening for the likes of The Sherlocks, Zuzu, The Hara, Larkins and more, gaining national radio play on BBC Radio 1, and making it on the reputable Spotify Indie List, the band have more than earnt their status as one of the UKs most exciting new Indie bands.
