Timeless Album By Davido Billboard Top 50 Best Albums of 2023: Nigerian Afrobeats luminary Davido’s album, “Timeless,” has achieved a significant milestone by securing a coveted spot on Billboard’s “Top 50 Best Albums of 2023: Staff List.”
Emerging as a powerful comeback for the singer following a hiatus, “Timeless” proudly claimed the thirty-ninth position on this esteemed chart. Notably, the list featured other notable albums such as Drake’s “For All the Dogs,” Metro Boomin’s “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” Lil Yachty’s “Let’s Start Here,” Doja Cat’s “Scarlet,” among others.
Billboard’s DAN RYS eloquently described Davido’s musical accomplishment, stating, “Before the slew of accolades — the Grammy nominations, the Headies Awards, the festival slots, and the international tours — there was the music, and what Davido achieves on Timeless truly lives up to his acclaim.” RYS praised the album’s diverse offerings, from joyous love melodies like “In the Garden” with Morravey to spirited amapiano collaborations such as the Asake-assisted “No Competition,” as well as the infectious beats of “Kante” with Fave and Highlife tributes to opulence like “Na Money” featuring The Cavemen and Angélique Kidjo. The highlight of the album was hailed as the Musa Keys collaboration, “Unavailable.”
Having been unleashed in March 2023, the album swiftly earned three nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards. These nominations included the coveted Best Global Album category for Davido’s latest musical endeavor, “Timeless.” Additionally, his tracks “Unavailable” and “Feel” garnered nominations for Best African Performance and Best Global Music Performance, respectively.
