STAHR are carving out a sound that feels both powerful and thoughtful, built on contrast and emotion. Made up of Sam Syrah and Gracie Lou, the Brisbane duo sit somewhere between dream pop and desert rock, but their music goes beyond simple labels. There is a raw edge in their sound, balanced by warmth and melody, with moments of grit softened by soulful undertones. It is that mix that gives their songs a real sense of depth.
Since their debut single The Heat in March 2024, STAHR have been steadily building momentum. With support slots alongside Boy & Bear, Olympia, and Jacob Fitzgerald, along with a sold out headline show, they have been growing both their sound and their audience. That journey now comes together on their debut EP BLIP, a five track project that feels like both a snapshot of where they are and a clear statement of where they are headed.
At its core, BLIP reflects on moments that once felt overwhelming but now sit in the past. The EP explores emotional highs and lows, personal struggles, and the way time can reshape how we see those experiences. STAHR lean into that idea, showing how something temporary can still leave a lasting impact.
The project opens with Mother Aura, which immediately sets the tone with sharp drums and distorted guitars before opening up into a bigger, more expansive sound. Loving Friend brings a heavier, moodier feel, gradually building into something intense and layered. On Isn’t It Fun, the band shifts into a more reflective space, touching on modern digital life through a hazy, atmospheric sound.
Be The Light slows things down, offering a more stripped back and emotional moment that still feels powerful in its own way. Then Yours Tonight closes the EP with a burst of energy, driven by gritty guitars and a restless, almost chaotic feel.
With BLIP, STAHR show they are not interested in staying in one lane. It is a project that feels alive, constantly moving and evolving, capturing a band in the middle of finding their true identity without forcing it into a fixed shape.
