No Pressure marks SP’s return to music after a two-year break, introducing a fresh chapter while staying true to the Afro-fusion sound he’s built over the years. Produced by Lade/Psamzbeat, a producer SP works with, the track came together quickly after the beat was sent over. Inspired by its infectious shekere groove and percussion, SP wrote the song in just a few minutes before recording it a couple of days later with friends in the studio, whose ad-libs added to the laid-back energy of the session.
Built around the simple idea of wanting to enjoy life, make more money, and leave unnecessary stress behind, No Pressure captures SP in a relaxed and confident frame of mind. The single also showcases a different side of his sound and flaunts SP’s skills as both a rapper and singer. SP is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper from Kwara State whose music is rooted in real life, real emotion, and a love for great melodies. Growing up in Omu Aran, music was always around him. He spent his childhood playing instruments in church, including drums, talking drum, shekere, and conga, before discovering, while studying at Kwara State University, that making music was more than a passion. In 2014, he released his first single, Club House, and began building his catalogue with a series of EPs and singles.
Originally starting out as a rapper, SP gradually realised his singing voice was just as much a part of his identity, leading him to develop the Afro-fusion sound he has today. He creates music that draws from from struggle and ambition to love and good times. After overcoming setback SP has returned with renewed focus. With more than 20 songs, three EPs, and plenty of new music on the way, he continues to move forward, determined to make his mark on the Afro-fusion scene.
