HYAA (stage name), an international commercial lawyer by profession and a passionate artist at heart, released her surprise debut single Gold Red on 26 December 2024. Merging the raw energy of rock, the smooth elegance of jazz, and the infectious hooks of pop, Gold Red, written and conceptualized by SHYAA, is a genre-defying track that challenges societal norms and highlights the power of perception in shaping our identities. The track is an unapologetic commentary on how stereotypes, gossip, and assumptions often distort reality, creating an unfair narrative that shapes public perception, especially when it comes to women. Gold Red stems from a deep concern about the power imbalance in societal storytelling and reflects SHYAA’S faith in the power of art to help specific communities reclaim their truth and power.

Although SHYAA moved to the UK in 2017 to pursue her international legal career, she grew up in Odisha and Assam. SHYAA started her vocal training as a child but had to stop indefinitely when she suffered a vocal cord injury. An avid reader, SHYAA is trained in the classical dance form of Kathak, plays the ukulele, and is a passionate writer (having written both poems and fiction). SHYAA has also experimented with a variety of Western dance forms, including Salsa, Swing, Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot. SHYAA is currently working on the third season of her podcast and video series, The All Inclusive Table: Hidden Gems, and her innovative take on newsletters, The Assam Letters, where she has set out on a journey to discover Assam like never before, under the aegis of her passion project, Peoplenovate. SHYAA credits art as being instrumental in her growth as an international commercial lawyer.
