New Jersey’s own Bright Shining Lights has just dropped their sophomore album, “The Sun Is A Star,” and honestly, these guys aren’t playing around. The album came out on September 23, 2025, and it has sixteen tracks that pull at your heartstrings and spark your imagination all at once. It is filled with impressive sounds and honest lyrics that will make you want to stare out a window and just think.

Let’s talk about the music duo behind the band, Art C Gusmano and Rob Maru. These two know how to build songs that are more than just melodies. “The Sun Is A Star” isn’t just a random playlist you shuffle through; it feels like a full experience. Even more impressive, they recorded the entire album in a basement in New Jersey. Yet, the sound is huge, rich, and full of life. It could easily pass for something made in a world-class studio, but it still keeps that genuine, heartfelt feel that makes it so special.

The opening track, “Go For Launch,“ sets the tone perfectly. It has that lift-off energy that feels hopeful and a bit emotional. As the album flows into “Weightless,” “Let’s Build A House Beside The Moon,” and “It’s Full Of Stars,” each track opens up a different world while staying true to the album’s message of discovery and meaning. The beats and instruments used throughout the project are very nice and contagious, creating a groove that draws you in from start to finish. The voices of the artistes are angelic, smooth, and deeply expressive, adding another layer of beauty to the already captivating sound.

The album shifts effortlessly between moods. Songs like “Drift,” “Dreaming Of Sheep,” and “Quiet Escape” bring peaceful moments that make you stop and reflect, while tracks like “We Do Our Best,” “Black Hole,” and “Restart” lift the energy back up with emotion and strength. The lyrics feel honest and relatable, exploring love, purpose, and belonging with real depth. You can tell this is music made from experience, not just imagination.

As the journey closes with “The Door Is Ajar” and “One,” you feel like you’ve been through something meaningful. Each song connects to a larger story, but you can also enjoy them individually for what they are. The production is rich and detailed, showing influences from Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Hans Zimmer. Still, Bright Shining Lights keep their own unique sound and emotion intact throughout.

What makes “The Sun Is A Star” truly stand out is its courage. In a world where artists chase short trends and viral singles, this album invites listeners to slow down, feel, and experience music the way it’s meant to be heard. It is an album with heart, purpose, and a clear sense of identity.

“The Sun Is A Star” is out now on all major streaming platforms. It is not just an album. It feels like a space mission for your soul.

Go stream it on Spotify. Trust me, it is worth every minute.
