Cardiff-born and Welsh-speaking singer-songwriter Lily Beau is stepping into the spotlight with her debut EP, Little Old Me. Blending pop, folk, and singer-songwriter influences, this EP is an introspective collection of tracks touching on themes of unrequited love, quarter-life crises, and personal healing. For Lily, an artist of Irish-Jamaican heritage, Little Old Me represents a pivotal chapter—years in the making—and is a heartfelt reflection of her journey from her childhood bedroom to stages across the UK.
Growing up immersed in jazz vinyl and classic films, Lily began songwriting at age 12, inspired by dreams, her surroundings, and early celebrity crushes. At 16, she moved to London to hone her craft at East London Arts and Music while working in A&R, a field that allowed her to foster other artists’ growth while continuing her own creative journey. Over the years, she has performed in both English and Welsh at iconic venues, from Cardiff City Stadium to London’s Royal Festival Hall, and has opened for acclaimed acts like Jack Savoretti and Joel Culpepper.
In Little Old Me, produced alongside Nate Williams, Lily brings the emotions she has explored for years to life, weaving in personal stories of love, self-doubt, and resilience. With lead singles “Too Close” and “Little Old Me” gaining recognition on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Introducing, her debut is already resonating with listeners. “These songs have been my therapy,” she says, describing her music as an outlet for navigating love, anxiety, and the realities of adulthood.
Lily’s multifaceted career also extends into acting, with notable roles in the Welsh BAFTA-winning film Y Sŵn and the BAFTA-nominated series Y Goleudy. Having composed a theme for the Welsh Government’s post-pandemic reopening, which she performed for the Queen, Lily Beau is becoming a celebrated figure within Wales and beyond.
Her EP, Little Old Me, is a deeply personal debut, revealing an artist unafraid to embrace vulnerability and share her journey with the world. Lily says, “These songs have lived in my notebooks since I was 17, and I’m beyond excited for them to be heard outside my bedroom walls.”

‘Dream’ sets the tone for the EP, capturing the restless nights Lily spent writing music in her childhood bedroom, embracing her creative insomnia.
‘Too Close’ explores the emotional complexity of falling for someone unattainable, focusing on the fantasy of a relationship that could never truly happen.
‘Little Old Me’ is an empowering track that marks Lily’s shift from ballads to more upbeat music, reflecting how her songs lift her out of the anxiety that often holds her back.
‘Run with Me’ celebrates the softening effect of love, asking for patience as Lily learns to embrace a gentle relationship with someone who accepts her “mess and madness.” It’s the only track not written in her own childhood bedroom, but in her partner’s childhood home.
‘Fuck Your Expectations’ is a bold declaration of reclaiming personal power, written after a corporate quarter-life crisis. It reflects Lily’s decision to let go of pleasing others and focus on her own path, particularly in her music career.
