LA-based artist Binoy has unveiled his debut album, The Great Alone, a compelling introduction to his “borderless pop” style that blends his Indian heritage and East African background with cinematic and personal storytelling. This project reflects a journey into solitude, self-reflection, and the rich diversity of his experiences as a queer person of color.
Raised in Kenya, Binoy’s love for music began with the piano and saxophone, channeling his inspirations from artists like Taylor Swift, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, and MIKA. With every song, The Great Alone explores facets of isolation, from yearning to acceptance, unfolding as a cohesive narrative crafted alongside producers Arthur Besna and Tripped N Sat. Each track on the album reflects Binoy’s emotional exploration of loneliness, his words underscoring a quest for self-awareness and connection.
For Binoy, The Great Alone represents an evolving sense of identity, inviting listeners to explore universal themes of loneliness, personal growth, and the journey to self-acceptance. With his rich soundscapes and evocative lyrics, he aims to create a community through music that resonates with those who have felt misunderstood or out of place.
