German-South African singer-songwriter Lilliane is set to release her debut EP, Hollywood, on October 9, introducing an artist whose nostalgic sound and deeply personal songwriting explore love, heartbreak, loneliness and the complicated process of growing up.
Blending the warm, melodic qualities of 1970s soft rock with a contemporary indie-pop sensibility, Hollywood brings together five songs that offer an intimate glimpse into Lilliane’s inner world. The EP features previously released singles I Dream of You, Fatal Attraction and Fairytale, alongside two brand new songs, including the title track Hollywood.
The EP’s title is inspired by Lilliane’s lifelong tendency to dream big and create vivid visions of how she imagined her life would look. Growing up fascinated by celebrities, pop culture and the glitz and glamour associated with Los Angeles, she viewed Hollywood as a place where anything was possible. It was only through experiencing the reality behind that image that she began to understand how different real life can be from the version we create in our heads.
That experience became the central metaphor behind the EP. Hollywood is about learning to accept life as it really is, including both its beautiful and difficult moments, without completely losing the naive optimism and big-dreamer mentality that made those dreams so powerful in the first place.
Across its five tracks, the EP explores different forms of longing, heartbreak and emotional vulnerability. The title track reflects on the gap between expectation and reality, while I Dream of You explores the difficulties of being in a long distance relationship and the pain of being separated from the person you love most.
Hotel Room turns to the loneliness that comes with travelling for work, capturing the feeling of being alone in an unfamiliar place when all you want is to be surrounded by your friends and family. On Fairytale, Lilliane delivers a heartbreaking ballad about the moment a romantic relationship begins to change when the person you are with starts developing feelings for somebody else.
Closing the EP, Fatal Attraction takes a more upbeat approach to a darker subject. The song captures the experience of being caught in a toxic relationship and the moment of finding the courage to finally walk away.
Together, the five songs form a personal portrait of an artist learning to navigate the difference between the life she imagined and the life she is actually living. There is heartbreak alongside hope, loneliness alongside love, and disappointment alongside the determination to keep dreaming.
Lilliane has been surrounded by music from an early age. A German-South African singer-songwriter, she grew up in a home where music was constantly playing. She began singing in school choirs and spent much of her childhood listening to CDs and singing along, using an empty bottle of deodorant as a microphone.
She went on to study musical theatre for three years, but soon discovered that songwriting was the creative path she truly wanted to pursue. While musical theatre remains something she loves, writing her own songs gives Lilliane the opportunity to build her own worlds, tell her own stories and bring her creative visions to life.
Her debut single, I Dream of You, was released in February 2026 and marked the beginning of her journey as an independent artist. The song has since accumulated nearly 20,000 streams on Spotify and became her first track to receive radio play, featuring on several stations. She followed the release with Fatal Attraction and Fairytale, establishing the sound and emotional world that would eventually become Hollywood.
Drawing inspiration from artists including Daisy Jones & The Six, Fleetwood Mac, Mazzy Star and The Cranberries, Lilliane’s music sits between indie, indie-pop and soft rock. Her sound combines nostalgic influences with a modern perspective, creating songs that feel timeless while remaining rooted in her own experiences.
