London-based R&B and soul singer-songwriter Kyrah Tay introduces her debut single, “City Girl,“. Produced by Monterey J, known for his work with rising soul and urban artists, “City Girl” serves as an introspective anthem that delves into themes of self-discovery, resilience, and the personal challenges of city life. The song’s rich soundscape combines soulful basslines, bright guitar riffs, and synth undertones over a catchy electronic beat, complemented by Kyrah’s smooth, evocative vocals.
With over 15 years dedicated to perfecting her craft, Kyrah Tay’s music draws from her deep-rooted passion for R&B and soul, blending it seamlessly with modern urban influences. Her distinct style has already attracted notable support from artists like Winnie Ama, Martin Ikin, and Jaymes Samuel, who have mentored her through the development of her debut projects.
Following “City Girl,” Kyrah plans to release a second single, followed by a debut EP that will explore themes of empowerment, love, and the nuances of urban life. This first single sets the stage for Kyrah Tay’s arrival as a new voice in the soul scene, showcasing her lyrical depth and musical versatility.
Speaking about the single Kyrah explains: “I wrote this song last year after playing the piano line, which is how I write most of my stuff. ‘City Girl’ is a story of one of the toughest years for me to date. I’d just left my job, lost my grandmother, and was going through relationship struggles. This song is an expression of feeling lost but also empowered to chase after what you desire.”
