Rifkin’s impressive career spans decades, from his tenure as frontman of the Island Records-signed San Francisco band Mumblin Jim—sharing stages with acts like Cake, Violent Femmes, and Train—to his acclaimed solo work featured on hit television shows such as The Mindy Project, Parenthood, and Friday Night Lights. This wealth of experience infuses, Lancaster Road, with a sense of emotional immediacy and musical mastery.
The album was brought to life under the guidance of Grammy-winning producer Leonardo Marques in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Rifkin spent two transformative weeks recording foundational tracks at Marques’ Ilha do Corvo studio, collaborating with a house band of talented South American musicians. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Rifkin continued crafting the album alongside longtime collaborator and producer Keith Armstrong.
A testament to collaboration, Lancaster Road, features an array of renowned guest vocalists, including Jennifer Souza, Bart Davenport, Miranda Lee Richards, Niki J Crawford, Annie Little, and Adam Elk (of the Mommyheads). Their contributions add depth and vibrancy to the album’s already polished sound.
Reflecting on the album’s creation, Rifkin shares, “Music has always been my way of processing life—of honoring what came before, understanding the now, and looking ahead. Lancaster Road, is my most personal project yet, and I hope it serves as a companion for listeners on their own journeys.”
