The 16th edition of the Headies Awards was held at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, U.S., and featured a remarkable line-up of top Nigerian artists and notable figures from the music and entertainment industry. The Headies announced on their official Instagram page that, “In recent years, Afrobeats has exploded beyond our borders and expectations, serving as both a genre of music and a cultural movement. Our songs have garnered billions of streams and topped charts worldwide.
Our music has become the soundtrack for countless online videos. Our stars have sold out the largest arenas, while African collaborations achieve incredible numbers.” In light of this global success, The Headies has chosen to honor this explosion by hosting the 2022 and 2023 editions in the US.
