Watching Disney Channel series premieres used to feel like a major event, especially for the tweens who gathered in 2006 to witness the debut of pop star Hannah Montana. Played by a thirteen-year-old Miley Cyrus, Miley Stewart lived a double life as an everyday high school girl and a rising music sensation. It was a moment that defined a generation.
With the twentieth anniversary of Hannah Montana arriving in January, Cyrus has excited fans by confirming that she is planning something special to honor the show.
“I am definitely in the works on something,” she said on Good Morning America at the global premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 1. “A lot of my time right now is being spent on how I can honor Hannah in such a special celebration for us all.”
She has not shared official details yet, but she did clear up one big rumor. When asked about the possibility of a reboot with a new actress, she told Billboard News, “This is the only Hannah.” Fans have already started speculating about a reunion special or even a nostalgic tour.
The show ran until January 2011 and grew into a cultural powerhouse, producing soundtrack albums, concerts, a feature film, and unforgettable memories. Since leaving the series, Cyrus has become a major global star, earning three Grammy Awards and releasing hits like “Flowers.” In 2024, she received the Disney Legend honor, becoming the youngest person ever recognized.
