Who Is El Jawani?
‘EL JAWANI’ is an Independent Hip Hop artist working on the release of his first album with ‘Grammy Nominated’ producer ‘Freek Van Workum’ currently producing for ’21 Savage, 2 Chainz, Tech N9ne, B.o.b and Kid Ink’. The smooth ‘West Coast’ influence captures the delivery in the rhyme style. Previous competition winner on ‘MTV’s TRL’ show has outperformed over 1000 entrants and reached the final 5 to be ranked number one by the guest star on the show ’50 Cent.
You are influenced by Snoop Dogg, Michael Jackson & Childish Gambino. Who amongst these artists would you like to collaborate with if given the opportunity?
All artists are amazing no doubt but given the current climate on where the genre of Hip Hop is at the moment, I would have to choose the Dogg Father of rap himself which would be ‘Snoop Dogg’ as it would make the most sense to be under the wing of a living legend.
Surviving Coronavirus inspired you to write ‘No Hands (Covid-19)’. What message do you have for your fans regarding Covid-19?
The message I would like to share with the fans and people tuning in around the world is to stay safe, be cautious as we all feel invincible when the going gets good but don’t take things for granted as I was blessed to be strong enough to beat the virus whereas others were less fortunate. The song has a positive and feel-good vibe to apply the guidelines as we all can agree when tuning in “that ginger garlic honey splash of lime is fine with the cinnamon”.
All proceeds earned from ‘No Hands (Covid-19)’ will be going towards the NHS Heroes. What motivated you to do so.
Front line heroes have been working tirelessly to protect and save people’s lives on a daily basis including my own. I felt that this was the best way I could have shown appreciation and homage to the NHS and everybody involved in keeping us safe. Bottom line is you can’t put a price on saving a life I owe them my life.
You got infected by Covid-19. How was the experience like and how do you feel now that you have recovered?
When fighting for your life the word traumatic can feel like an understatement I’m just glad I made it through as It was an extremely painful experience and I wouldn’t wish that upon anybody.
Your new single ‘No Hands (Covid-19)’ is already trending with over 10K streams on Spotify within the first 24hrs of releasing it. How do you feel about that?
I feel blessed, it’s the best feeling for an artist to be able to have a voice that can relate to the world with the current situation that has affected us all in a negative way and receive a positive outcome from it.
How long does it take you to write a song?
That depends on the record some tracks are written faster than others some take a little more time. All depends on what journey you would like to take your audience on with you.
How do you feel winning the MTV TRL competition?
Like most people that rank number one in their respective field of music, sport or acting you win you feel like you the man and on top of the world when you accomplish what you set out for.
What should your fans expect from your forthcoming album?
A collaboration of genres with a fresh vibe and storytelling from a new perspective as the album contains Hip Hop/Rap, R&B, New Jack Swing & Pop.
