There is a difference between making music and building an identity around it. For Cece, that distinction has shaped a career spent moving comfortably between songwriting, production, performance, creative direction and entrepreneurship. Now, with the official music video for her latest single ‘One of One’, she brings all of those experiences into sharper focus.
Born in Nigeria and raised in the Bronx, New York, Cece, also known as Big Cece, discovered her creative voice through poetry, writing and freestyle rap before expanding her world through piano, dance, theatre and music production. Those early experiences gave her more than a foundation in music. They taught her how to think across disciplines, an ability that has become central to the way she approaches her career.
Long before stepping fully into the spotlight, Cece was already making things happen behind it. Her independent producer project If Not Me Then Who passed one million digital streams, while her work as a songwriter, producer, vocal producer and creative executive has connected her with artists and projects across the contemporary music landscape.
That experience matters when listening to ‘One of One’. The track feels less like an introduction and more like a declaration. It captures an artist who knows exactly how much work happens behind the scenes and is now ready to put her own story at the centre.
Confidence runs through the release, but it is not presented as empty bravado. There is a sense of perseverance underneath the polished production and infectious melodies, reflecting the journey of someone who has spent years developing her creative instincts while helping others develop theirs.
The new visual adds another dimension to that story. Rather than simply accompanying the single, it reinforces the individuality at the heart of the record and gives audiences a clearer glimpse into the world Cece is creating for herself.
Her journey has taken her from poetry competitions and performing arts schools to independent releases, live events, tours, production rooms and major industry collaborations. She has worked with and contributed to projects involving names including K Camp, Yung Tory, Minz, Bella Shmurda, Capella Grey, Asake, Joeboy and others, steadily building a reputation that extends well beyond her own recordings.
But ‘One of One’ is about bringing that experience home.
Cece is no longer simply the person helping shape someone else’s sound or vision. She is stepping forward as the artist, and the title says exactly what she wants listeners to understand. This is her story, her voice and her moment.
