Brighton alt-rock trio Bones Ate Arfa announce the new EP ‘Just Bananas’ (April 22nd) and release the explosive title track (Jan 12th).
Following a wave of national acclaim across the likes of Dork, Radio X, Earmilk and BBC Radio 6 across their 2024 EP ‘Amkibo People’, Bones Ate Arfa have been touring the UK and solidifying their reputation as one to watch. Describing their sound as psychedelic-street-punk-desert-rock, the trio (Bones on guitar, 8 on drums, and Arfa on vocals & bass) have gained recognition online and made fans of a number of renowned artists such as Muse, Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Isaac Holman (SOFT PLAY), Royal Blood, Tigercub, cool sorcery, Demob Happy, and Bad Nerves.
Showcasing more of the up-tempo fuzzy riffs and melodic vocals which characterise the band’s sound, ‘Just Bananas’ once again captures the inventive rock musicality that the band have been renowned for. Comparable to the Queens Of The Stone with the glitchy undertones of Muse and experimental flare of Radiohead, the track moves from its infectious verse and chorus into a floating and radiantly melodic final section, balancing the uptempo rock feel with a sense of thoughtful musicality.
Speaking about the single the band explained: “Just Bananas’ is the title track to our next EP coming out mid April. The song and EP name is a reference to mine (Arfa) and 8’s grandma as she owned a shop in our hometown called Just Bananas.
The single is about her giving our guitarist, Bones, a cigarette at a birthday party, but also just about how cool of a person she is. She wears these giant fur coats that are pimping as hell and she owns one of those classic jukeboxes from the 60s. She’s been to so many of our shows which is mad cos we don’t exactly make the politest sounding music… she’s still yet to throw down a two step though.”
Made up of Bones (guitar), 8 (drums), and Arfa (vocals & bass), the trio have made a significant mark on the UK’s southeastern gig circuit within a short period and continue to showcase what an exciting up and coming band they are.
Bones Ate Arfa have built a reputation for their previously garnered significant attention with their gritty sound and dynamic live performances. Their robust social media presence, particularly on TikTok, has connected them with bands like Bad Nerves and solo artist LOU, earning recognition from acts such as Royal Blood and Tigercub. With early support from the likes of Dork, 1883, Louder Than War, BBC Radio 6 Music, Radio X, Earmilk, Total Rock and Amazing Radio (A-List) the band are set to head on a mammoth UK tour through august to support their debut EP release.
