Rock ‘n’ roll never really went away. It simply keeps finding new voices willing to carry it forward. For Atticus Roness, that means taking the melodies, energy and fearless spirit of classic rock and giving them a fresh place in the present. His new album, Rock ‘N’ Roll Hit Parade, is the result of that vision, bringing together 13 songs that move freely between psychedelic pop, British rock, power pop, arena-sized anthems and deeply personal songwriting.
The album has been taking shape since 2021, with recording beginning in early 2026. Rather than feeling like a collection of unrelated songs, Rock ‘N’ Roll Hit Parade has been built with a sense of continuity, allowing each track to play its part in a larger musical story. For Roness, the idea behind the record was straightforward: “I wanted to make the album that I would want to hear.”
That simple goal gives the album much of its character. Roness clearly has a deep love for the golden age of rock, with influences that reach back to artists such as The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Yet this is not an exercise in simply recreating the past. The familiar sounds are used as a foundation for something personal, energetic and distinctly his own.
The opening track, “My Congratulations,” immediately establishes that approach. Hypnotic and colourful, it brings together choir, sitar and a cleverly hidden backwards reference to the album title. Elsewhere, “Birds” leans into psychedelic territory, while “Trigger Finger” and lead single “Lovebombs” deliver the kind of infectious rock energy that sits at the heart of the record.
Roness also leaves room for vulnerability. “It’s All” and the expansive “Wives’ Tale” reveal a more reflective side of his songwriting, showing that the album is not only interested in riffs and hooks. “Rubber Soul,” “Savior” and “No Lie” bring vintage swagger and memorable melodies, while “Eyeliner” pushes the energy even higher.
One of Roness’ personal favourites, “I’ll Have Fun,” captures the warmth and vocal richness of classic pop. The album then closes with “Satisfied,” a more vulnerable and heartfelt moment that gives the record an emotional final chapter.
Produced by Brian Collins, Will Turpin and Caleb Heiple, Rock ‘N’ Roll Hit Parade is supported by a strong team of musicians and collaborators. Roness handles lead vocals, guitars, keyboards and xylophone alongside his role as chief songwriter, with contributions from Brian Collins, Will Turpin, Caleb Heiple, Stephen Grubb, Radley Fenimore and others.
At its best, Rock ‘N’ Roll Hit Parade feels like an artist having fun with the music he loves while still taking the songwriting seriously. It looks back without getting stuck there, proving that the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll can still sound exciting when it is approached with genuine enthusiasm and a voice of its own.
