Brooklyn-based, Budapest-born songwriter Atticus Kane returns with ‘Love Me Not’, a fast-paced indie rock single that turns a deeply personal experience of immigration and belonging into a sharp reflection on what it means to be American.

The song was sparked by an unlikely source: a series of political robocalls from a Florida politician running on an aggressively anti-immigrant platform. Having previously lived in Miami, Kane found himself confronting a contradiction that felt impossible to ignore. How can a country shaped so deeply by generations of immigrants continue to argue over who truly belongs?

That question gives ‘Love Me Not’ its emotional centre. Kane does not write from a place of simple rejection or anger. Instead, he explores the complicated relationship between loving a country and being honest about its failures. For him, criticism is not necessarily an act of opposition. It can also be an expression of care.

Musically, the track carries that tension through a restless, energetic sound that sits between indie rock, alternative pop and singer-songwriter territory. With influences ranging from Courtney Barnett and Sam Fender to Declan McKenna, Kane brings an immediate, guitar-driven energy to lyrics that deal with much heavier questions of identity, politics and belonging.

What makes ‘Love Me Not’ particularly compelling is its refusal to offer an easy conclusion. The song lives in the contradiction between affection and disappointment, pride and frustration, hope and uncertainty. Kane’s experience as an immigrant gives those questions a deeply personal foundation, but the ideas extend far beyond his own story.

At its core, ‘Love Me Not’ is about believing in something imperfect and still wanting to make it better. Kane’s music continues to transform personal experiences into wider reflections on society, relationships and the world around him, while maintaining the raw, human quality that defines his analogue-minded approach to songwriting.

With support from publications including Fame Magazine, Backseat Mafia and Dancing About Architecture, Kane continues to build momentum around News From Delphi, establishing himself as a songwriter unafraid to ask difficult questions while holding onto the possibility of something better.
