The 2024 Canadian Folk Music Awards were presented over the weekend, during two gala concerts Saturday, April 6th and Sunday, April 7th held at the beautiful Majestic Theatre in St. John’s and streamed via https://video.folkawards.ca/, marking the 19th year of Canada’s premier folk music event.
The bilingual broadcast, hosted by Tom Power and Emilia Bartellas, announced all 21 Awards, as well as the presentation of the Unsung Hero Award to St. John’s John Clarke, and announced that the 20th anniversary of the CFMAs in 2025 will be held where it all began in Ottawa, ON.
The CFMAs congratulate all of the 2024 nominees and recipients! Multi CFMA recipients this year are Manitoba’s William Prince who was a recipient of three CFMAs: Contemporary Album of the Year, Solo Artist of the Year, and Single of the Year. Quebec’s Mia Kelly was awarded two CFMAs: New/Emerging Artist of the Year & Young Performer of the Year. Provincially, artists from Ontario and Quebec received the most awards, each province had 5 recipients in total.

Established in 2005 as a non-profit, the Canadian Folk Music Awards celebrate the breadth and depth of folk music in Canada in all its forms.
