ALT BLK ERA return with the new single ‘Okay (Cyber Racing)’ via LAB Records. Released midway through the duo’s EU & UK tour with Pendulum, the single comes fresh off the back of the pair winning best new artist at the Music Week Women In Music Awards 2025.
Following the release of their debut album Rave Immortal in January 2025 which placed at No.1 in the Official UK Rock & Metal Chart, earned the duo a MOBO award for Best Alternative Act, and an appearance on Later… With Jools Holland, the duo waste no time showcasing more of their radiant potential and prolific output.
The Nottingham, UK based sisters Nyrobi (21) and Chaya (18) Beckett-Messam are songwriters, producers, and the creative visionaries behind their music and aesthetic. Through ALT BLK ERA, the pair bring a striking, unique, genre-defying alternative rock sound that encompasses elements of rock, EDM, rap, alt-pop, and metal to create something more than the sum of its elements. Characterized by heavy basslines, distorted guitar and clever storytelling delivered through their yin and yang, contrasting yet complementary vocals, their acclaim continues to grow with each release.
The new single ‘Okay (Cyber Racing)’ sees the sisters embrace their electronic side through punching, high energy back beats, glitching production, heavy fuzzy bass and subtle yet driving guitar work. The result is a soundscape which leans as much into the danceable intensity of previous releases, whilst affirming a commercial flair with its instantly repeatable chorus.
As 2025 MOBO winners for Best Alternative Music Act and with a UK No.1 album to their name, ALT BLK ERA continues to push the boundaries of genre. Beyond their music, they are passionate advocates for hidden disability awareness and inclusivity in the music industry – MORE INFO HERE. Nyrobi who suffers from ME/CFS is working closely with BBC Introducing to provide artists with disabilities safe backstage spaces at festivals – a mission inspired by her personal journey and also a central theme of the band’s early ‘25 debut album Rave Immortal.
The duo have received acclaim across national press including NME, Kerrang, Rock Sound, Music Week, Louder, Dork, DIY, and The Guardian, and have performed live sessions on BBC Radio 1 with Daniel P. Carter. Live, the band have toured across the UK, appearing at a number of major festivals including Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, and Download Festival as well as festivals across Europe and making multiple live TV appearances (Later… with Jools Holland, Sunday Brunch on Channel 4). The duo have already confirmed dates through 2025, including the current EU tour with Pendulum
