Tanzanian singer-songwriter Becka Ibrozama is set to release his highly anticipated new EP, AURORA, on 21st August 2026, a project that signals both a homecoming and a bold step forward for the acclaimed artist as it marks his return after more than 10 years without releasing a major project.
Much of Becka’s earlier music journey unfolded before the digital era and social media had opened up the kind of global access artists enjoy today. As a result, a large part of today’s audience has never had the chance to discover him or experience what he can do as an artist. With AURORA, Becka is ready to properly introduce himself to this new generation of listeners, letting the music speak for itself.
Blending Afrobeat and Afropop with contemporary R&B and Bongo Flava, AURORA finds Becka Ibrozama in a more mature, emotionally refined creative space. Following years immersed in the Tanzanian music scene, the EP sees him reconnecting with his devoted audience while opening the door to a new generation of listeners across the continent and beyond.

Across its tracklist, the EP unfolds as a diverse and deeply personal project, journeying through love, heartbreak, hope, resilience and faith. Each song offers a distinct emotional perspective while remaining tied together by a shared sense of renewal, all while staying firmly rooted in Tanzanian and Bongo Flava tradition. That thread of rebirth is central to the project’s identity, inspiring its name: just as an aurora signals the emergence of light after darkness, the EP represents a fresh beginning for the artist, both personally and creatively.
Sung primarily in Swahili and rich with the melodic sensibilities of Bongo Flava, AURORA stays rooted in Becka’s distinctive Tanzanian identity even as it reaches for a wider stage. The project has been crafted with international ambition, aiming to carry East African sound to new audiences and further cement Tanzanian music’s place on the global map.
