Lucky Iris – Something To Believe In: Leeds based alt-pop duo Lucky Iris release their hotly anticipated new EP ‘Something To Believe In’ via EMI North and Launchpad+. Following a wave of support across national radio, press and their debut TV appearance, the EP highlights the duo’s best work to date and comes ahead of the duo’s set opening for Dorian Electra.
Self labelling themselves as “making music to dance or cry to”, Lucky Iris have built a reputation for their radiant alt-pop approach, often referred to as Leed’s best pop band. With lyrical storytelling that taps into personal experiences which bring a commercial relatability, radiant earworm melodies and striking, punchy electronic backdrops, the ‘something to believe in’ EP captures a radiant alternative edge whilst retaining a universal accessibility.
Talking about the EP, lead vocalist Maeve explains: “‘something to believe in’” the EP is about leading with your whole heart before your head. The songs are a story of playful self discovery, casual existentialism and falling in love with your friends.
Together I hope they give you a little look into the world of Lucky Iris… and to be honest the world of Lucky Iris is pretty much a nicely dressed up version of my own life… and I love living in it… most of the time hehe! It’s a world full of synths, football memorabilia and flirting; mixed with a taste of influences we’ve picked up along the way. I struggle to get out of my own head so instead I’m letting you in. And when all is lost, sometimes you just need something to believe in, and sometimes that’s football, sometimes it’s your friends… and sometimes, it’s an alt-pop band.”
Mixed by Richard Wilkinson (Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Kaiser Chiefs) and mastered by Antony Ryan (Oh Wonder, Hannah Diamond, and Sugababes), the track is another glittering addition to the duo’s upcoming new EP.
Having burst onto the scene since their formation in 2020, Lucky Iris have had an array of breakthrough moments including the recent sync on Love Island. Alongside a whole host of national radio play from the likes of BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Radio X, Amazing Radio (including live interviews) and BBC Introducing as well as editorial playlist on both Spotify, Apple and Amazon Music, the band have gained national press support from the likes of DIY, Dork, Earmilk, DMY, Notion, Hot Press, God Is In The TV, Louder Than War, 1883, RTE, Punk News, God Is In The TV, Far Out, The Line of Best Fit and The Forty Five, as well as also featuring on Tottenham Hotspur Website, the square ball (the official Leeds United Mag) and even making national TV Debut on Sky News.
