The Imperfected, an ongoing musical project from producer/bassist Chris Catero, which includes an ever-changing group of collaborators, returns with a riotous new SINGLE and VIDEO, “Lemmy Made Me Do It,”. This new song is a full‑throttle homage to the late Motörhead frontman, Lemmy Kilmister, and the mythic chaos sometimes left in his wake.
The track was sparked by the countless stories—some whispered, some shouted—from friends and peers about nights spent trying (and failing) to keep pace with Lemmy Kilmister’s legendary “imbibing” stamina. “It’s really just a cheeky fictional tale that’s an amalgamation of all those stories,” says Chris. “Think Hunter S. Thompson on a bender with Motörhead on the stereo.”
Chris has been a lifelong Motörhead fan, discovering them during the era of Ace of Spades. He believes they’re a great example of how rawness and attitude can be a far more important element when connecting to people when it comes to rock music. “They were as real as it gets, and their music got more relevant as time went on, I think,” he explains. “Compared to today’s homogenized rock and metal, their catalog of music feels more vital than ever. They’ve definitely been an inspiration and influence, so the idea of doing a tune that saluted all that just seemed like a fun thing to do.”
Along with producing the single Chris shot, edited, and assembled the entire accompanying video which blends studio performance and memorabilia footage, on‑screen lyrics, and bursts of surreal, animated visuals to capture the song’s “gone bonkers” narrative. To achieve the trippy sequences, Chris collaborated with Argentine artist Gonzalo Valdes of Aividart Mkt. “To get the point of the song across I wanted to have some moments of crazy gonzo animation mixed in with all the footage I shot. A.I. can be a great tool that makes those kinds of ideas more feasible to do nowadays. It all blended together really well in the final edit,” he says.
At its core, “Lemmy Made Me Do It” is meant to be fun. “Fun seems to be a devoid concept in a lot of rock music nowadays,” Chris notes. “This is for people like me who love Motörhead, and there’s tons of “tip o’ the cap”, easter egg-like references littered throughout the tune. It’s pretty geeky really.” The track also features guest solos from guitarist Joe Palma, a bandmate of Chris’ who happens to be a nephew of late classic‑era Motörhead guitarist Fast Eddie Clarke. “He’s a great guitarist and did a really admirable job of channeling the vibe of his uncle for the solo section. Having him on it was the cherry on top of the geek cake.”
The Imperfected is always evolving, never repeating. Chris says, “The collection of songs I’ve done so far has been eclectic. Just this year, I’ve released a heavy riff/pop mashup in “Need You Here Tonight”, a bluesy rock soundtrack tune called “Sound N’ Fury” for ex-GnR manager Alan Niven’s book, and now what’s essentially a love letter to Motörhead. I’m all about the fact it’s a bit all over the map. But if you listen to all those back-to- back you hear the thread of “me” in all of them.”
The Imperfected have a couple more songs already in the can that will be released in early 2026. Chris explains, “I also have a few songs in the hopper I really like as well, and none of them are quite alike! That’s just how I roll.”
