London based, Italian alt-rock riser Marta Vega returns with the vibrant new single ‘Chemtrials’. A self-described “lesbian grunge soul”, Marta’s music is both emotionally raw and irresistibly melodic, carving out a space where grunge grit meets pop vulnerability. Another example of the haunting, hook-heavy guitar led sound which has seen her quickly establish herself as one to watch, ‘Chemtrials’ captures the Avril Lavigne meets Wolf Alice; rock-pop meets atmospheric-indie which stylises Vega’s sound.
Produced by Andrea Tripodi (Bambole di pezza, Adriano Celentano,Gianluca Grignani) and mastered by Stefan Brown at Abbey Road Studios, the track brings fuzzy bass, tight drums and elegant reverb drenched guitar lines under Vega’s distortion tinted, effortlessly charismatic vocals, affecting and melodic vocals.
Talking about the recording of the track, Marta Vega explains:
“‘Chemtrails’ is definitely my ‘fuck off’ track. It’s about leaving behind the weight of someone who just drains you, and finally saying: I’m done, I’m out.
The lyrics came from that headspace where you’re angry but also liberated – forgetting their face, ignoring their words, and choosing your own road instead. For me, ‘Chemtrails’ became a symbol of that escape, of driving out into the blue, far away from their chaos. It’s not about looking back, it’s about breaking free.”
Having gained early support across tastemaker press (Notion, Ones To Watch, Psychedelic Baby Magazine, Lock Magazine), and Spotify Editorials including placements on: All New Rock UK, Rock Italia, New Music Friday and Equal Italia, Vega has built a feverish following (10k on TikTok, 5k on instagram) and sold out shows across the UK.
