Leigh-Anne – Been A Minute: Leigh-Anne makes a powerful return with her newest single, “Been A Minute,” released via Virgin Music Group. Arriving alongside a vibrant, high-energy music video, the track marks a confident step into a bold new era of creative freedom.
Leaning into her Caribbean roots, Leigh-Anne breathes fresh life into a sample from Masters at Work’s iconic “Work”, blending it into a dancehall-infused production that’s both nostalgic and forward-looking. Crafted with producers Elijah “GYW Eli” Ross and Lasse Qvist, the single highlights her rich vocal tone over pulsating rhythms and layered textures.
The video, directed by Femi Lade, is a colorful, cinematic celebration. Set against the backdrop of a lively carnival, it follows Leigh-Anne in a whirlwind of joy and motion—until a mysterious, red-cloaked figure interrupts the scene, adding a surreal and symbolic twist.
“There’s something powerful about sampling a song that shaped me growing up,” Leigh-Anne shares. “I used to play it with my friends when I was younger, and now I’ve reimagined it as the soundtrack to my comeback. ‘Been A Minute’ is fun, nostalgic, and the first taste of this new era.”
This release follows the success of her 2024 EP No Hard Feelings, a deeply personal project that explored love, identity, and her Bajan and Jamaican heritage through a blend of R&B and island sounds.
Now, with “Been A Minute”, Leigh-Anne invites fans into a more playful, yet no less intentional, chapter. She’s also gearing up for a packed festival season with confirmed performances at Reading & Leeds, as well as headline slots at Manchester Pride and Mighty Hoopla Malta.
